Hair and pictures and postable bits

Well, today was a good day I think. Nothing extraordinary happened but I can’t say that anything bad happened either. After getting home, I went out with my mom and sister and I got my hair cut while they got a manicure (… … … no comprehension of the purpose of it… … but… I wont even try… …. …) And so then I got to wait in the car for like an hour for them to get done, so I watched Mean Girls on my iPod, which was a fairly entertaining experience.

On another note, I have absolutely no idea what to do for the up coming photography assignment (Portraits) and I'm also running out of postable pics for the blog, so I think tomorrow I'm going to go out and take pictures of random stuff that has nothing to do with portraits of people, but so that I have something to post.

And The Weekend Is Half Over Already?!

Well, calling today interesting would be an understatement. Well, sorta. More like, really weird. As far as I can recall, there were only 4 actual events that took place today. I went with my dad to rent a ceramic tile saw, used said saw to cut tiles and put them in place in the kitchen (as a backsplash above the counters), ate dinner with the grandparents, and spent 2 and a half hours trying to fix my computer. 3 out of those 4 events are very closely related, in fact, each one of the three would not have taken place if the one previous to it hadn’t. The only exception to this is dinner with the grandparents. That would have happened anyway. But the first 2 events lead to the tragic failing of my computer. And you may ask yourself, how? I shall tell you.

After renting the equipment, my dad and I got to work tileing up the backsplash in the kitchen. We needed the saw to cut tile to fit around electrical outlets.
-Rule number one of electrical outlets: shut the breaker off before working around them
-Rule number one of breaker boxes: Label what breaker turns off what.
Bet you see were this is going. Anyway, so my dad was down there flippin all kinds of switches before he got the one for the outlets in the kitchen. Apparently one of those was the breaker to my room.
Unfortunately, my computer was on at the time, and when the power was cut suddenly, it couldn’t remember anything about the monitor, and so it was trying to broadcast some crazy signal and the poor screen was like “WTF are you trying to make me project, I don’t understand!!!” and so, 2 and a half frustrating hours of trying to fix my computer without being able to see anything (damn that’s hard) I was finally able to do it. THANK GOD! And now it’s like an hour later than I wanted to be up, but I need decompression time to let all the bad thoughts and frustration out. Pictures will be posted soon of the new kitchen tile. In the mean time, you must settle for the above pic strategically placed to make this post look shorter.

Guess who's back, back again

Well, she who must not be named (Berkeley) has returned (*shutters*) from college life for the weekend for my cousin’s bridal shower. For those of you who don’t, this means password protecting my computer, probably fighting, and most definitely an apluthera of terrible thoughts and feelings that form in my head that are very difficult to keep from actually saying. Please feel better knowing that you are in a safe place away from such tragedies. To give you some idea of what’s going on in my head right now, please observe the following picture. As you can tell, it almost gives you a headache just looking at it. The hard light and shadows really make you feel very lost in all the mess. Actually, that’s a bad example of what’s going on in my head, I'm not really lost, just frustrated. Its very difficult for me to say this without sounding like a terrible person, but why cant she just go back to college and be happy there? Is that too much to ask? I really do hate logging in to my computer, entering a password every time, and logging out every time I get up. Ugh, that’s ok, it’s only a weekend. Only a weekend…

Its a Contest!

Well, it seems that the number of comments I get from people goes down by the day (currently, we are at about 1 comment every 4 or 5 days. This is bad. so, I have decided to have a little competition. Who ever can leave the most constructive comments between now and next Friday, will get a very special, un disclosed prize. (the prize is undisclosed because I haven’t had the time to think of a proper one yet… and no I wont give away an iPod, I don’t have that kind of operating budget) THE POINT IS: leave posts that fit the below criteria, and with any luck, you will win.

- You must comment on a something that was posted AFTER Feb. 9th 2006
- The comment must be at least 5 words long
- The words must be actual words that one can find in a standard dictionary
- The all the words when read from left to right must make sense and be a complete thought.
- There is also a limit of 2 posts per entry

This competition is open to ANYBODY*!!! Even kangaroo herders in Russia are welcome to take a stab at it. You have exactly 9 days to leave as many comments as you possibly can on one of my blogs (HINT HINT). Yes, there is the picture blog too. SO COMMENT AND BE HAPPY

*Custom shipping is available for those who do not attend Sunset High School.

Pictures and Movies and Broken Glass

All I really have to say about 3 day weekends is that they are amazing! In any event, Alex spent the night on Friday, and we took a bunch of cool pics for our photography class including this one. As you can tell, the magazine is suspended in mid air. So that was fun. We also saw Date Movie, which was SOOOOO Funny for the first 2/3 or so, but got a little to many things that really funny movies like that shouldn’t have, like a plot and drama, and just, not as much funny ness. But the point is, is that over all, it was really funny, and you all need to go see it right now!

On another note, tomorrow my dad and I are going to swing by Alex’s house to get his camera and head back to the greenhouses that we were salvaging stuff from last weekend so that we can get more stuff, and really good pictures. I am aspiring to do as was done with the magazine above and get a good shot of broken glass suspended in mid air. Ohhhhhh. Anyway, I hope that dad will let me… anyway, until next time, leave me lots of comments so that I don’t feel so alone!

Blue (Da Ba Dee)

Well, yes, I have more pictures, but only one or 2 post-able ones (including this one) but hopefully our next photography project will produce a plethora of new and great pictures. The only downside is that they will all be limited to the schools grounds, which I am realizing to be less and less interesting every day. I really need to get a camera. I'm thinking pocket-sized point and shoot with built in rechargeable batteries, 2+ inch screen, 5+ MP, 3+ optical zoom and good focus on close up shots. That’s all I ask, oh yeah, and below $500 (the lower the better) anyway, have to do some research on that…

My apologies for that little fit of geekyness. I do try hard to keep it out of the blog, but every now and then, it manages to sneak itself in. I feel like this blog has been wasted on that piece actually, I hesitate to talk too much about the picture itself, for that would overlap the description of it on my photo blog. In any event, the assignment was to find colored light; therefore, it really lacks a central object. But that’s not the point. The point is, is that I'm looking for some new music that’s really good. So, check your iTunes or (god forbid) windows media player (*Shutters*) for your highest rated / most played / favorite songs and leave a few suggestions in a comment or an email. And I like almost everything, so send it all!

Until next post, do try to keep yourselves alive. Think of the losses of comments that would ensue if you all died? How sad that would make me…

Salvage Operation

So, yesterday was lots of fun. The main highlight was going with my dad to this old greenhouse place that had been abandoned until recently, and the new owners are going to tear it all down, but offered my dad to come in and take anything he wanted. So we had tons of fun. The main thing we went there for was a system that hooks to the roof of a greenhouse and lets you open it to vent the heat out. Anyway, they were made up of these really cool old gear systems. Anyway, I cant describe it very well, but we are going back this week after school sometime or next Saturday and getting a few more things that we didn’t have the equipment for. So then I shall bring a camera and take lots of pictures.

Speaking of which, as you cal tell, there are none on this pose ☹. Yes, I had that one… but, there will be more, and I shall make a very good effort to get a new one up every post or so. If only I had my own camera…

Pictures At Last

Yes, it is true, I have not posted much on this blog in a while, but that it because I am quite ashamed of my lack of ability to find anything good at our school to take a picture up, and I did promise a picture on the next post. So I figured that all would be better if I just waited until I actually had a picture to post. Which I do, as you can see. For the complete history behind this picture, you will have to visit my photo blog (link on the left). And if you don’t like/want to hear the music that’s playing on the photo blog, at the bottom of the right side bar, there is the handy little thingy that lets you stop the music.

And as to Marina’s comment on my last entry… way too confusing, just throw it in scientific notation and call it good.

photography

Tomorrow is the first day we get the cameras in photography, so I shall try to snap a good one and post it ASAP. This blog has gone too long without a picture, and my picture blog is getting completely scammed over. Yes, hopefully, starting tomorrow, the flow of pictures will be coming in and you will all like looking at my blog much more than you do when there’s only text for as far as the eye can see.

Lazy Saturday Mornings

I am terribly glad that the weekend has finally graced us with its few short lazy days. Today would be a good day to take a camera to the park, but I know that I wont make it. So instead I shall is here for a while and listen to my Sunday Morning music mix, which includes the likes of Jack Johnson, Five for Fighting, Modest Mouse, and many, many others. And then I suppose I would like to finish my book, and maybe later do a little of my homework. I am also hoping to be able to see Hoodwinked, which looks to be quite funny.

I have started Photography this semester so, I greatly look forward to actually having pictures to post up on both here, and on my photoblog. Until Next time…

Mind Inspiration

After my attempts at completing my chemistry homework, I saw that I had about an hour left before bed, so I decided to write a blog entry. I had decided that because I had an hour, I would try to write something philosophical and inspiring, but after writing a little bit (first about the question why, fallowed by time) I couldn’t get my thoughts collected in a way that pleased me, so I scrapped the idea. Instead, I shall state an interesting word that popped into my head for no apparent reason, other than I was looking for a way to describe the question why. The first word that came to mind was Paradox, which does not describe the question why very accurately, but is quite a word nonetheless.

The first time I remember coming across the word paradox was middle school when Alex introduced me to VisualParadox.com which is a site that collects CG desktop backgrounds that you can download for free. When the word comes to mind, as does its logo. And oddly enough, And whenever I think of the phrase “as does” or more specifically “as goes…” I think of the movie The Alamo, which was really good. Powerful, as a film critic might have put it prior to its release. And my point in mentioning this is that the mind makes all of these weird connections between our memories and different senses, and its really interesting to fallow this train of thoughts when you haven’t anything else to do, and see ware it takes you.

And look at that, if you define the words philosophical and inspiring quite loosely, I may have tread near them after all, in quite an unintentional manor. And so, I have spent the last 40 minutes or so working on this entry, which does include the 7-minute chat with Berkeley, numerous mind scavengings and occasionally, just letting my mind wander wherever it pleases. And with that though, I shall post this entry and probably resume zoning out and focusing inward on what my mind has to think about all this.
